ODF rallying to support DirectRelief.org

 In Events

As planning began for a virtual series we were committed to offering sessions without charging a registration fee, and knowing the hearts and minds of our community, thought we may have an opportunity to do more good by rallying to raise funds for another non-profit organization in alignment with our mission of helping organizations around the world become more effective, successful, and inspiring.  And, with ODF board members’ emphatic support we have selected DirectRelief.  Information on this special organization is below

For more than 70 years, Direct Relief has supported communities affected by poverty or emergencies, delivering locally-requested medicines and emergency supplies to frontline health workers who care for those most in need. Direct Relief partners with thousands of clinics and hospitals – in all 50 U.S. states and about 100 countries – as well as private companies and public institutions to enable fast, transparent, and reliable support before, during, and after emergencies. Since January, Direct Relief has distributed millions of masks, gloves, and other critically requested items – like oxygen concentrators and chronic disease medications – to thousands of healthcare workers throughout the globe and in all 50 United States. Direct Relief always puts 100% of designated donations towards the cause, and publishes data-driven articles about how those funds are used on its social media channels and at DirectRelief.org.

COVID-19 RESPONSE

As case totals grow, Direct Relief is focusing on the four key areas of activity: (1) Providing assistance in the form of personal protective equipment, or PPE, for health workers; (2) Building an ICU medication model and a stockpile of private resources to assist with spikes in ICU patients; (3) Boosting support to safety-net facilities to address existing chronic gaps that are likely to grow; (4) Collaborating with infectious disease epidemiologists, technology companies and public agencies to use aggregated mobility data to support the COVID-19 response.

DIRECT RELIEF IN ACTIONDirect Relief is working in overdrive to get protective gear and essential medical resources to as many health workers as possible, as quickly as possible, with emergency deliveries leaving daily for nurses and doctors across the U.S. and globally. Direct Relief has delivered millions of masks, gloves and other critically requested items to thousands of health facilities in more than 60 countries and all 50 United States. Direct Relief is also providing financial support to cover gaps and ensure continued services at primary care sites, and conducting analysis in collaboration with infectious disease experts and data scientists to inform public health efforts.
