Amy Kates

Advisory Board Member

Amy Kates is co-founder of Kates Kesler Organization Consulting. Accenture bought Kates Kesler in 2020 and Amy now serves as a Managing Director for Accenture. Amy was first introduced to ODF when Kathy Molloy invited her to attend the conference in Salem in 2003. Amy and Kathy co-chaired the 2006 conference in Charleston and Amy was a board member in the mid-2000s and currently serves on the advisory board. She has attended and presented at many of our conferences and webinars. Kates Kesler has also been a regular conference sponsor.

In addition to her consulting work, Amy is on the i4cp Thought Leader Consortium. She teaches organization design at the Executive School of Business in Denmark and through Cornell University. Amy has co-authored four books on organization design with Jay Galbraith and Greg Kesler. Amy and Greg’s latest book is Networked, Scaled, and Agile: A Design Strategy for Complex Organizations (Kogan Page, 2021). LinkedIn learning commissioned her to write and deliver their video course on organization design. She is a visiting fellow to the government of Singapore and a board member of Educate!, the largest education social enterprise in east Africa.

Amy began her career as a city planner and Urban Fellow with New York City. She has a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Cornell University. Amy lives in New York City.
