Geared toward experienced practitioners, participants will learn new methods and collaboratively critique the approach to co-develop the next iteration of the practice. Participants will receive a free charter membership in the Network for Double Impact Practitioners (coming winter 2023).
Date: May 1, 2023
Time: 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Profit should not come from creating the world’s problems but from solving them
(Paul Polman Chair International Chamber of Commerce and former CEO of Unilever)
Historically, Organization Design has focused on building the capability needed to deliver agility, outstanding service with efficient processes, and a good employee experience – in the pursuit of maximizing short term profits. But times are changing and those who lead in the business of building a better world are already gaining significant competitive advantage. This transformational shift to Mission Economics is currently happening in corporations ranging in size from Unilever, Microsoft, Toyota, Interface, Nike, Levis Strauss, Patagonia, to less known businesses like Graystone Bakeries, Grameen Bank, Mahindra, Frontier Markets, Aakar Innovations, and SpringHealth. These and many others are what Paul Polman (ex CEO of Unilever) calls “the solution revolution”.
Participants in the Workshop will:
- Become familiar with i) research into the Mission Economy and Mirror Flourishing, ii) case examples, and iii) implications for Organization Designers
- Learn about, critique and elevate the practice of Co-Creating Mutual Value – an organization design approach created to help businesses prosper by matching and applying their reach and resources with a better world challenge, in partnership with ecosystem stakeholders
- Participate in small group activities focused on “how do I integrate this into my practice and what are the next steps I can take?”
About the Trainers
In 2020, Neil Samuels & Bernard Mohr co-founded The Co-Creating Mutual Value Collaborative, a not-for-profit whose purpose is to “accelerate the ability of businesses and their ecosystems to prosper by building a better world”. The Collaborative is dedicated to providing practitioners and businesses with the tools and practices needed to engage their boards, leaders, employees, and ecosystem stakeholders in building a better world through the creation of mutual value. The Collaborative presumes that business has a both a moral and economic rationale to positively impact the complex social, economic, and environmental problems we face. But to do that requires not just good economic analyses but also innovations in an organization’s operating and business models. Through our research process, we work to uncover the best of existing tools and practice and infuse them with the next level of design and innovation practice. The Collaborative makes all our research openly available.
