Hidden Hazards: Organization Design’s Impact
on Workplace Mental Health

February 7th | 12 – 1 PM (EST)

When we think about psychologically safe workplaces, what images come to mind? At best, we imagine a high-functioning team that openly shares ideas and isn’t afraid to take the calculated risks needed to drive innovation. At worst, we think its a buzzword that will just go away.

Globally, however, the understanding of psychologically healthy and safe organizations, and the business necessity of addressing it, has become much more clear. With the publication of standards and guidelines by organizations like the WHO, ISO, and the US Surgeon General, we have the frameworks needed to proactively tackle the human side of a healthy business. And the place to start is with organization design.

In this session, ODF Community Member, Carlos Valdes-Dapena, and his guest, Allessandria Polizzi with Verdant Consulting, will review the global movement toward creating psychologically healthy workplaces and provide a deep dive into the unique role that organization design plays in this process. As a result, participants will be able to:

  • Understand some of the recent progress in defining what is needed to create psychological safety
  • Identify the specific areas of organizational design that impact mental health at work
  • Determine next steps for their own organizations for addressing the hazards
