Do Managers Matter Today?
Join this co-hosted ODF & European ODF Community Conversation . . .
Should we get rid of managers, or do they perform an important role in our organizations?
On social media, at conferences, and in books, managers are sometimes characterized as mere “costs” to be minimized or as hindrances for the autonomy and self-actualization of employees.
(cf. Open Space Beta, Corporate Rebels, Humanocracy, etc.)
Recently, though, Klein & Foss argued in their book “Why Managers Matter” that such attempts are misguided.
EODF community member, Gareth Evans, will facilitate this debate between Nicolay Worren (Professor at the School of Economics and Business, Norwegian University of Life Sciences) and Paul Tolchinsky (co-founder of the EODF and pioneer in Whole Scale Change) asking the question: DO MANAGERS MATTER TODAY?
Living in the polarity, Nicolay and Paul will each take one of the polarities and frame the arguments for and against the convention of managers.
Join us for a lively discussion/debate and weigh in yourself on this question . . . Do Managers Matter?
