This fast-paced, highly interactive session is intended for those who are beginning the practice of organization design or want to better understand what organization design is, its underlying theory and methodology. If you are wondering how to connect what you already know to the deep and powerful change that organization design creates, this workshop is for you. At the conclusion of the program, participants will:
- Be conversant in a few of the important organization design models and the assumptions behind what shaped them
- Know how to recognize what is – and isn’t – an organization design opportunity
- Understand the steps in a “typical” organization design process and some common pitfalls along the way
- Be familiar with their role as a consultant including where and what level they are entering the client system and capabilities required for org design consulting
- Have experience applying a subset of course material to their own experience
- Have information on where to go from here including access to a library of resources
Participants will be asked to watch a short introductory video as pre-work and they will also be provided with the course material to use for future reference.
Jodie Goulden, an ODF Board Member and Consultant/Founder, Orgdesign Works LLC
As the founder of Orgdesign Works and a Certified Organization Design Professional, Jodie brings over 25 years of global leadership experience from working in the USA, Germany, China, UK, Singapore, Canada, and Australia.
She has held senior roles at BASF, Cognis, Lucent Technologies, Alcatel, Nokia, and Deloitte, gaining a hands-on understanding of organization design. Jodie has a BA (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Western Australia, supplemented by advanced coursework in Organization Design, Strategy, and Design Thinking from RWTH Aachen, University of Würzburg, MIT, and Michigan Ross Business School. She is on the Board of the Organization Design Forum and Faculty for the European Organisation Design Forum.
Jodie has successfully led transformative projects, including reviewing the Sustainability Function for a global agriculture business and developing organizational effectiveness capabilities for a $40 billion retail company. Her approach consistently delivers strategic insight and actionable solutions, making her an ideal partner on complex projects.
Brandon Curry, ODF Community Engagement & Learning Volunteer and Managing Advisor/Founder, Work Arts LLC
Brandon founded Work Arts in 2020 to help clients build more effective and engaged organizations after 20 years in industry. He previously held global management roles leading teams spanning 5 continents in HR, Talent Management, Organization Development, and Continuous Improvement roles. A creative advisor to management teams, his knowledge base is informed by diverse global experience delivering performance improvement, increased capability, and high-stakes organizational change initiative leadership including global M&A and integrations, business segmentations, start-ups, and significant strategy and scale changes.
Brandon is a Certified Organization Design Professional (CODP) who has successfully advised leaders in organization design initiatives in industrial, chemical, automotive, technology, SaaS, fintech, biotech, consumer goods, homebuilding, omni-channel distribution, and non-profit organizations. He earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Training and Development degrees from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. He served as HRD Special Lecturer at his alma mater for 7 years. Brandon completed advanced coursework including the Advanced Human Resources Executive Program at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, the Talent Management Institute at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School, Edgar Schein’s Process Consulting Seminars (The Helping Role in OD and Planned Change at the Cape Cod Institute), and extensive Lean and Constraints Management development. Brandon leads delivery of global client engagements, based in Rochester, Michigan.
