Organization Design ‘Coffee to Cocktails Club’ – Aug
Tuesday, August 18th | 11AM – 12PM (EDT)
(third Tuesdays)
Let’s talk all things Organization Design! ODF will host a monthly virtual coffee (or cocktail depending on where you are in the globe) club for people interested in or working in the field.
Join Julian Chender, ODF Advisory Board Liaison, who is hosting this month’s meet-up, for two to three rounds of participant-led breakouts to chat about topics of special interest to practitioners.
Topic: Cross-Department Collaboration
How do we work across boundaries within an organization? This is the central question of Organization Design’s focus on “Horizontal Integration,” a necessary part of shaping behavior at scale. Rather than “breaking down silos,” this asks how we design the work, processes, and ultimately collaboration so that people can work across them. Silos are the load-bearing walls of the organization. Horizontal Integration builds the windows and doors so that people, processes, and information can flow between them. This month we’ll talk about how we do that, when it has worked (and hasn’t), and explore new ideas for designing collaboration across departments.
